Homewood. Rated the best views on the planet. I loved it.

Hi there, if we talk about skiing then from this point of view, then i like north Tahoe a lot more and south Tahoe. lot of lodging option in Tahoe city. Tahoe city is adorable, Brilliant is far greater however it's a gambling club town.

I do like casinos...
Good to hear from all of you. Appreciate the input.
I did infact buy the Epic Local again this year because a good friend just moved to Denver and bought the same. I'll be doing a weekend or two with him so in terms of cost, the family doing Vail owned in Tahoe makes sense.
It's the usual deal of finding my own experience from the mountain, whilst keeping them happy at the base and on the groomers.
So what did you end up doing last season?

Although I know it's long past, to the OPs questions I would have suggested something at the Heavenly gondola base - google Blue Lake Inn. There were some reasonably priced AirBnBs in that area as well. puts you within walking distance to Heavenly and the strip for the wives/shopping etc. Lotta people knock heavenly. I found all the challenge I needed in motts and the boundary chutes. Some reasonable BC options for southeast JONGs too. Mid-mountian can be lift line hell though. And If you need options there's sierra for the big powder days and Kirkwood for everything else. Look at going in/out of Sacramento vs. Reno.
Emerald is only open when the snow sucks so you hope your limited to the south side. North side has the terrain, on the whole, but NOTHING else. NO town or nightlife, and you'll be in the car for ANYTHING.

I would only go to Tahoe/California, if you also want to jump cliffs or drive to the coast and surf or kite surf, or some other really good reason for going to an area that has a maritime dense snow pack. Otherwise I would go to where the snow is drier. Disclaimer, I go to California every winter.

Homewood is cheaper than any of those especially if u purchase tix online beforehand. Its also my fav place on the planet so Im a little biased.
Look at renting an air b n b or something maybe. We stayed at a cabin with a jacuzzi and it was 1200 for 5 people for 4 days.
