The End of an Era...We are Shutting Down the Messageboard

The messageboard is now in read-only mode and no new posts or topics can be created. We will leave the messageboard up for historical purposes, but you will not be able to make new posts or comment on existing ones.

We have started a Discord server and hope that you all will join us on there. Technology has changed over the years and maintaining the messageboard has become somewhat of a pain in the butt and Discord offers many features for users, the main one being a very polished mobile app.

We really hope you all will join us on Discord and think you will like the platform. Use the invite link below to join.

Not to be harsh, but;

"The deaths underscore that skiing and snowboarding are inherently risky sports. During the 2003-04 season, according to the National Ski Areas Assn., 41 people died in skiing or snowboarding accidents nationwide."

It happens. It is very sad and I send my condlences to family and friends. But skiing, especially in off piste areas, is a risky endeavor. It is up to the individua to either accept the risks or refrain from the activity.

"People that sue ski areas should be shot.", Scott Schmidt.

I guarantee the legal buzzards wil be all over this.

I remain shocked and amazed that they don't make you sign a liablity release when you but a lift ticket. Sure, they've been negated in court, but not every time.

Someone asked me the other day about whether it was safe to ski. I replied, "You just have to remember one thing. You could die doing this. If you keep that in mind, you'll be fine." We all get in trouble when we lose our respect for the environment and the inherent dangers of the sport.

You could die, you are right. But the chances of death have to be at least 100 times greater every time you get behind the wheel (or even just get into) a car.

Buying a lift ticket is a resorts liability waiver. If you read the back many of them say how dangerous skiing can be and they can't be held liable.

They do say that, but as any lawyer will tell you, liability waivers are scarcely worth the paper they are printed on.
