After last years disastrous season let's hope for a better one.

On my end I typically divide by 2 or 3 to get the snow counts for my area but your results may vary.

It's looking up though 1 for 1 in Hoschton and Auburn early this AM.

Last year I had 10 fogusts and 9 measurable snows (mountains of northeast TN). Here's to desperation!

Is there any correlation between how hot it is in August and the winter season? I only ask because it feels like it has been exceptionally mild for August in Raleigh the past few weeks. Seems like the past few years it's usually blazing hot even after sundown this time of year; lately we're topping out in the upper 80s, and dropping to the low 70s (or even upper 60s) at night. I'm clinging to any hope that we wont have a record third terrible season in a row :(

3 for 11. Good stout fog this morning in winder auburn and dacula.

Id imagine if you were so inclined for your area you could look at crummy winters vs good winters and see what kind of correlation there is

Hello everyone I'm back in the USof A!!!! Island life is great if your a tourist or a total worthless bum.Enough of that.
As I was drinking coffee this morning and looked outside it was very foggy and it's still a little.I live about 100 or so yards away from the Taccoa river so I'm sure that plays into what I get here.Seeing the fog made me think of this post. Its been very mild up here this summer with lots of rain.Hope that means a cold winter. Looking forward to the season and living arms reach of the NC ski areas.
I was going to post a pic but I don't see the the icon to do so or forgot how I'll try to figure it out later and post it then.

5 for 31 was the total. More is always better. So maybe 2 snows for my end of the woods. Heres to hoping

I saw my first wooly worm crossing the road the other day. Looked pretty much blonde like the ones around here the past few years. If you give that old Winter predictor any merit. (Supposedly the darker the color, the colder a Winter will be, and lighter means mild.)
Yet, go to the Wooly Worm festival in Banner Elk, and you will see all dif colors. so...

As for fog, I've just seen one here in the Piedmont of NC.
