It isn't often that we get a good snow here in Dallas. Here goes my local TR.

First, some shots from the snow last night.

It was beautiful outside this morning.

My wife and I sledding in the backyard on my old snowboard (turning the binding to face forward makes a good handle)

Me doing a little boarding in the backyard.

We even got my 10 month-old son out in the snow a little...gotta get him used to the white stuff early!

Around 2:30, I decided to walk up the street to find some hills to ride. This is a pic from a horse pasture up the road. I managed to avoid all land mines.

I also hit this hill on the way back. It's short, but was pretty fun. I dropped in between the two trees near the center.

The drop in is actually pretty steep on this one. I dropped in a little left of the center of this picture....notice the hard cut I had to make to keep out of a small creek.

A good time was had by all. I hate the sun had melted alot of the snow on those last two spots. When we get another good snow in a few years, I'll have to hit those early in the morning. Maybe my son will be able to head up there with me.

We had 6" on the ground Monday morning, but I know it was packing due to the temps and since it was so heavy. I believe we actually got about about 8", but I don't really know how to account for compaction. I can say I measured Sunday night at 9:00 and again at 10:30 and we'd picked up 2" for a total of 6" and it was still coming down pretty hard when I went to bed around 11:00....and I still showed 6" when I got up in the morning.

I just can't get enough of the avy jibes -- forgive me -- that looks like a fun spot; are you making the Summit?

I had on my beacon! :-)

No summit for me...I've already made a trip to the Shoe this year. I'd love to, but one trip up there a year is probably all I can swing right now with a 10 month old.
