Day 2 of the Colorado trip started @ 6:30am with a 1.5 hr drive from Lakewood to Vail.
Again, it was snowing pretty good on the way up:
Loveland was looking good on the way up:
Getting closer:
Free Vail parking:
Although it stopped snowing for a little while after we passed Copper and when we got to Vail, it started puking by the time we hit the slopes and it didn't let up until ~ 2pm:
The wife & I at the top of Eagle Bahn Gondola:
Ginny on one of the groomers down to Lift 2:
The only times we found any crowds were: The Gondola line up, here at Lift 4 to get to the back (maybe a 2 min wait at the most), at the Two Elk Lodge and on the way back to Lionshead before closing:
Representin at Two Elk Lodge (it was COLD, so this place stayed busy):
Dropping into China Bowl (a boarder traversing near me was in waist deep pow):
Looking for In The Wuides, but we found Champagne Glade! It wasn't that bad though. A few of the bumps were pretty solid which made the run a little more difficult on the knees, but lots of good snow:
It started to clear up ~ 2pm:
The obligatory got to jump something shot:
I REALLY enjoyed Vail. Yeah, the fresh 2-4" helped alot but they have some excellent terrain out there. I would highly recommend 1-2 days at Vail. We hit it on a Friday and once we got away from the village the crowds pretty much disappeared. We also spoke with another NC couple in the airport on the return trip and they said Saturday wasn't bad either. The only bad thing was the shuttle back to the Safeway. We got on the right bus, but it went to the bus depot and there it changed to the Golf Course bus... not cool! So we got on another bus and rode around Vail for a bit, then after an hour we finally got dropped off behind the Safeway, so a little further to walk than the bus stop in front but at least we were back at the truck.
The day got better as we stopped in Idaho Springs for pizza at Beau Jo's on the way back to Lakewood. That place is GUUUUUD!

Vail is fun. I've spent a few days there. I have friends that have a place in Minturn. I want to do the Minturn Mile, but will have to wait til the next trip.
Did you make it out the Blue Sky Basin? I never made it out there, but I heard it's super fun.
Glad you got some freshies.
