Day 3 of the Colorado trip started at 6am since the haul to Beaver Creek from Lakewood is ~2 hours. We were running a tad bit behind schedule since some dummy set his M-F alarm and this just happened to be a Saturday! But things moved a little quicker since the girls were having a girls day at the horse farm, so John & I grabbed our stuff, the leftover Beau Jo's pizza and hit the road.

Today was going to be bluebird, so excellent view on the way up. Note: Saturday traffic gets hairy early, so be sure to hit the road early:

These guys slowed traffic down a little, but we moved pretty good for most of the trip up:

As KneeDeep has already reported, Loveland was looking SWEET as we passed by:

Copper was looking pretty good too on the way by:

Teh Beav was GOOD! No crowds and maybe a 1 min. lift line at the most:

Most of the fresh pow was tracked, but we found a few good spots:

John & I found that the blues here have some pretty decent steeps, Raven Ridge I think:

The armada was out in full grooming force:

This place was pretty sweet, but check out the sign:

Looking down one of the blues:

Birds of Prey & Grouse Mountain in the background... it's hard to capture the steeps:

I love this sign:

Beaver Creek was GOOD and not crowded at all for a Saturday. We found the left side of the mountain near Lift 8 to be a lot softer than the right side near Arrowhead. The Arrowhead side was actually a little icy and reminded me of East Coast skiing... booo! We got in a lot more skiing today without the wife and were able to cover most of the mountain. This place has some steeps! I would definitely recommend BC for 1-2 days. And the shuttle system from the free parking lot was most excellent.

We hit up Burger King on the way out for a quick bite to eat and it really surprised me how many of Sugar's lifties were there ;) Almost thought I was going to have to press 1 for English!

The trip back to Lakewood was going good until we got back to the tunnel and hit a dead stop in front of Loveland for ~45 mins. I'm guessing there was an accident, since we didn't move the entire time. Loveland night runs were looking really tempting... yeah, I've got a maglite! We finally got going and saw no remains of said accident, but the typical Saturday evening traffic started to kick in from there.

Got back and had a few more of the Rocky Mountains finest then made the call that Day 4 was a go!

Agreed on the beaver being better than Vail but blue sky basin is not bad at all.
