The End of an Era...We are Shutting Down the Messageboard

The messageboard is now in read-only mode and no new posts or topics can be created. We will leave the messageboard up for historical purposes, but you will not be able to make new posts or comment on existing ones.

We have started a Discord server and hope that you all will join us on there. Technology has changed over the years and maintaining the messageboard has become somewhat of a pain in the butt and Discord offers many features for users, the main one being a very polished mobile app.

We really hope you all will join us on Discord and think you will like the platform. Use the invite link below to join.

Left Wake Forest at O dark 6 AM on Friday. Made it up to SS and walked in the Top of World at 11:45. I took a new route - running up 85 towards Richmond Va, then 288 to 64 E and on through Staunton onto 250 and into SS via Cass.

I did the check in thing and saw Eastcoaster standing at the counter. After a brief chat and the quickest check in on record - we collected Teledave and walked out to my car. My two kids and I got our gear out. I pulled the new Phantoms from the roof rack for their maiden voyage. Unfortunatley the snow wasn't as virgin as my skis. There was no fresh powder - but these slopes were like a mature woman (oh wait - it's a family oriented BB)...... The slopes were in great shape for the spring conditions. I know little of how grooming is down - but I suspect they just need some cold over night temperatures to move some snow piles around to fill in a few bare spots. Silver Creek did have the best base of the two areas.

After the boys and I hit the slopes - TD and Eastcoaster joined us for a few warm up laps. Rob, ever the optimist, came to first blue run ( I think it was J-Hook) and said: "The kids outy to fine on this...." After a momentary flashback to me and ODB at Alta - I said sure. Lucky for me kids are resiliant - in that they still had the ski memory working from the Beech Summit. We cruised down to and onto a lift. After a few runs the kids were doing fine - they knew the mountain and had a map. They took off together for the rest of the day and I got to cruise the mountian with EC and TD. I did not tote my camera for the daytime activites, EC has pictures in his TR.

I did tote the camera into party at Hoots.

TD and EC arrived before me, I stole a chair and joined in. Hors d'oeuvres is not quite the description for the food that was provided - Snowshoe and Hoots provided what could only be described as an all you could eat wing buffet with 2 dollar drafts from 7 to 9 PM.

From the left we have GA Tom, Allison, Teledave and EC (Rob) with his back to the camera.

Here is EC throwing the 'Hater' look at the Papparazi.

Teledave got his own introduction to the crowd. TD seemed to get shy and bashful, forcing Adm1n to apply to the Vulcan Pinch to his shoulder to hold him in place. Meanwhile back at the table (go back and read that in the voice used in the Super Friends Cartoon ((you know - "Meanwhile, Back at the Hall of Justice")) most of us knew what Dave wanted.....

TD was not the only celebrity sighting in Hoots. I swear she said - "Hey - your that guy from Hanson."

Honestly - I did not know how fast that rumor would spread - my bad. It could have been worse - it could have been "Hey- It's Vanilla Ice." We'll know for sure after I spread/start that one in Colorado....

By the way - what's that shirt say - TA Utah - is that really why your going back to Utah - More TA? - and I thought it was all about the powder on the mountains in Utah.

Anyway - after a night of $2 drafts, this is what I saw all the way back to Rimfire.....

I did hear the EC and TD got a great parking spot on Friday night and didn't even have to open the gate. As you can tell from the picture above, I couldn't see straight, so that rumor has to be left unconfirmed.

On Sunday morning, there were some strange sightings on the mountain....It appears TD's pants were found hanging from a special tree....

They were recovered by a special group of folks that were left to represent....

JeffryC is really baffled and could only say; 'How'

The pants have disappeared again.....

Hopefully, more to that story will arrive in a future posting. If not, the world may never know the full details of how those pants got there, or where they went, or where they are headed.....
