The End of an Era...We are Shutting Down the Messageboard

The messageboard is now in read-only mode and no new posts or topics can be created. We will leave the messageboard up for historical purposes, but you will not be able to make new posts or comment on existing ones.

We have started a Discord server and hope that you all will join us on there. Technology has changed over the years and maintaining the messageboard has become somewhat of a pain in the butt and Discord offers many features for users, the main one being a very polished mobile app.

We really hope you all will join us on Discord and think you will like the platform. Use the invite link below to join.

Tuesday morning okay

Wednesday rained all day

Thursday new manmade good conditions all day

Friday 4" of new conditions were great, especially for a 5 year old on his last day at the Shoe. Friday all he wanted was to ski to the lake. He did all day. A skier forever.

I LOVED skiing with my sons when they were little and just going top to bottom -- a very special time

then they grow up to be "I'm almost a teen, mom" (at 11.5) and you find him on a trail you prohibited (dbl black, ungroomed, steep as s**t), sliding down it on his butt, while you're helping patrol close said trail for the day. (that's the smoothest, fastest I've EVER skied bumps though LOL. could hear my patrol buddies laughing at the situation my whole way down)

The little one's first time skiing, and the instructors at the Shoe, Rosie and Megan were great. He would ski half day with me and ski school the other half day.

Greatest family sport we took up....loved skiing every weekend rather than sitting around the house wondering what to do...

oh yeah. was there Saturday. new snow was nice to see. only one muddy slope - lower balhooter, everything else (open) looked like tons of snow. light rain and no lift lines, mostly clear slopes. finally got to ski shays - fun slope, nice soft bumps, just a few weeds poking through. like i said, tons of snow, too bad they don't have enough business and drive to stay open longer, but even in pocahontas county the forsythia are blooming, the grass is greening, and the birds are singing, so perhaps it's time to let it go. it was fun while it lasted.

UNCREATIVE if you and your freinds are patrollers you should love the fact that your kids are pushing the edge (such as it is round these parts)-- That is very cool that they want to push it; we all just have to keep up with them while we can
