The End of an Era...We are Shutting Down the Messageboard

The messageboard is now in read-only mode and no new posts or topics can be created. We will leave the messageboard up for historical purposes, but you will not be able to make new posts or comment on existing ones.

We have started a Discord server and hope that you all will join us on there. Technology has changed over the years and maintaining the messageboard has become somewhat of a pain in the butt and Discord offers many features for users, the main one being a very polished mobile app.

We really hope you all will join us on Discord and think you will like the platform. Use the invite link below to join.

Why I love Captiva...

Haha...maybe.. just kidding though, he doesn't check this anymore anyways, atleast until winter starts approaching, I am basically in charge of up-keeping and attempting to catch the spammers. But as for vacation, I could take one, just waiting till the right time, maybe something out-west when winter rolls around!

I have spent a lot of time on captiva and sanibel. one of the nicest places on earth and i hope like hell that the oil steers clear of that area.

i always rent canoes and do the mangroves trails from the tween waters inn ( which is a tougher trail ) or at tarpon bay on sanibel ( easier paddle ).

Me too.

My uncle owns the "T Shirt Hut" on the corner of Periwinkle and Main on Sanibel. That area is beautiful.

T shirt Hut....I know the place. I just saw a NOAA report that states that there is a 1% chance of oil hitting these islands. I hope they're right!

wow, thats great news. i will keep my fingers crossed that it steers clear.

Supposedly Sanibel is the only island in FLA that has a fresh water spring. some of the best shelling in the world too.

whenever i am in the area i try to go to the Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary which is just east of Naples. they have a boardwalk through a huge bald cypress swamp. its a couple of miles long and its an incredbile wildlife watching opportunity. its run the adudon society??

Thanks for the reminder of the Captiva/Sanibel sunsets. Spent my first week engaged there 9 years ago. Great local restaurants.
