The End of an Era...We are Shutting Down the Messageboard

The messageboard is now in read-only mode and no new posts or topics can be created. We will leave the messageboard up for historical purposes, but you will not be able to make new posts or comment on existing ones.

We have started a Discord server and hope that you all will join us on there. Technology has changed over the years and maintaining the messageboard has become somewhat of a pain in the butt and Discord offers many features for users, the main one being a very polished mobile app.

We really hope you all will join us on Discord and think you will like the platform. Use the invite link below to join.

Started out at just past 4am as BroncoBoarder was running a little late in picking me up. We set out from Atlanta for Sugar Mountain with no word yet on if they were even going to open but we just decided to take a chance and head up anyways. Had some laughs as we were running with this semi on 85N doing 90+. We had seen that the groomer was running at Sugar thanks to josh272??? for posting a pic from the sugar cam. So we knew things were looking good for opening at that point. Got up to a gas station right before I-40 waiting to hear the announcement at 8am on what trails would be open at Cat. They only opened to mid station so we continued on to Sugar. Got up there and got rockstar parking as we usually do showing up somewhat early in the morning. Conditions were exactly as mentioned in other people's TR's. Great for opening day but thats about it. My first run was quite entertaining. Even though the conditions weren't that great it was good to be back on the snow. After a few runs I got this crazy idea to pack up and head over to Cat. It would be the first time ever going to 2 Ski Areas in one day. Wayne and 2slik's have done this in the past so I knew it couldn't be that crazy. Its reduced rates anyways so money wasn't an issue, it just involved a lot of driving.

We arrived at Cat at 2pm and paid $22 for half day and gave Cat a whirl. The guns were full blast but much less visible than Sugar. The park feature area on the hill was not an issue at all that day. I saw a few boarders sitting but not that many. They were not in the way of anybody though. You really had to make your way over to that area for them to even be in your way. Making your way to the double chair was an obstacle course dodging the mud puddles. It really was a big mess there Saturday. The guns were just spraying out water. Not really sure why they couldn't just wait til 4:30 to turn them back on again. We got tired of being soaking wet there and got back on the road at a little past 4 to head home.

If I could do it again I would have just stayed at Sugar Saturday. Cat did look much better on Sunday but Saturday just wasn't up to par.

No on snow pics since I didn't want to mess up my cameras but I have a video of some clips and pics from the trip.

^Everything he said. I forgot my camera, so no pics from me. I think we should do that again sometime during mid season, but will just get a room for the night. I was dead to the world the next day. It was an interesting way to ring in the new season.
