Well it's official -- I get to post my first actual TR related to boarding, so the virginal sacrifice has been made and is complete!
All goofballing aside, I am freaking ADDICTED to boarding! I really didn't feel like I did that much, maybe a dozen or so turns on the beginner slope, but started to get really comfortable. I also started to get really worn out quickly because I know I'm way way out of shape...also an emotionally draining day, knowing I was finally doing it and knowing the reason why I was finally able to go. My Antman was with me the whole way.
Lift pass proof:
The bunny hill that I will own on my next trip (and the rope tow that smacked me in the face first time I used it):
I kept looking up top every once in awhile and saw a few random people looking down...not knowing any better, I actually had some gawkers trying to not look like they were gawking. I told my awesome instructor Zack that I had friends to find and wanted to come back later and pick back up. On my walk up I finally see that familiar skiSE logo on a helmet and was able to confirm my gawkers were just a bunch of forum crazies who were pretty darn cool in person.
Front: kendog & mommehK
back: yardsale, Grizz, mtbartlett, carvebeast
I went back later on in the early evening and took a few more turns on the beginner slope, only to decide that I wanted to save my legs and come back on Sunday. I couldn't help but get wrapped up in just being there, so I hung out on the main hill with instructor Zack and pretty much everyone else that came around -- most of this gang was either on staff or on the ski/board team at LU or both. Only one of them didn't go to school, but worked there and also did comps (sponsored). Ben said something about winning a Snowshoe Open last year (?) but I didn't get any details. The whole crew there just kept stoking me about doing this, at my age, and being really into it and not getting discouraged. I hung out talking and learning and absorbing all I could for quite a few hours.

Strapped in earlier in the day, but no photos of it!
No round of 'ritas for the skiNC guys so I partook in a couple at Logan's later last night. Flexo de Mayo was officially in full swing!
I did not get the chance to go back today, only because I slept on a bed made of bricks with cement pillows last night. I woke up feeling like I'd been in a car wreck. I was surprised not to be sore from boarding - rather I was sore in the back & shoulders/neck from sleeping.
1. Nighttime riding will be the order of the day as the weather gets hotter.
2. I'm completely of the same opinion as Kenny of trying to figure out how to get there as often as possible. Don't think it'll be monthly since it was about a 4 1/2hr drive for me from Asheville (29 sucks to drive)...but I will definitely be back as often as possible before there's real snow on the ground.
3. If you can figure out a way to go....GO. So well worth the trip!

If I had gone back yesterday, most likely I would have attempted it at least once down the magic carpet side (next to where they were doing the tubing). But I didn't and that's okay for the first trip. Next time, my friend, next time.

Congratulations -- you've dipped your board in the water.
Make that trip several times and you are going to have a huge advantage when winter rolls around. I'm really glad you had a good time, props to you.

Thanks, David!
I did indeed dip in the water...those stupid misters caught me square in the face a few times!
That early advantage is EXACTLY the reason why I'm doing this now. Had quite a few people question why I would start this now, on turf surface. The answer was pretty simple: why would I wait 6+ months to start on real/blown surface?
