The End of an Era...We are Shutting Down the Messageboard

The messageboard is now in read-only mode and no new posts or topics can be created. We will leave the messageboard up for historical purposes, but you will not be able to make new posts or comment on existing ones.

We have started a Discord server and hope that you all will join us on there. Technology has changed over the years and maintaining the messageboard has become somewhat of a pain in the butt and Discord offers many features for users, the main one being a very polished mobile app.

We really hope you all will join us on Discord and think you will like the platform. Use the invite link below to join.

After not being on a snowboard in about 3 years, and 5 years since I have been to a NC resort... finally made it out to Beech on Monday. While they were not able to make snow sunday night due to a wild temp inversion (monday morning in Banner Elk it was about 27, top of Beech was around 42), the conditions were still very nice. The snow that was there held up well due to the limited crowd, which was also nice. By mid day, the snow got a little choppy, but at least it was t-shirt weather on the slopes and clear blue skies! Absolutely Great day!

Really enjoyed the bar at the top of the mountain, and the Brown Ale was fantastic. Really nice addition.

Also a big KUDOS to BEECH for still having a College Student discount for any college student, unlike another resort which limits its student discount to just TN and NC. USC in Columbia is closer than some colleges in the far points of those states. So I choose to give business to Beech just for that reason alone. (off my soapbox now)

Overall, had a great time, and look forward to more time on the MTN and perhaps some longer trips up to WV, etc.

Thanks to SkiSE.com for keeping up with all the resorts and info around the region.
