But the 13" that they have reported is awesome for them. What do you think Ober will look like after Christmas. I know it will be crowed with tourists, but conditions wise, what do you think?

Ober usually has a really good day once every couple years, but that almost always happens in late Feb - early March. Saturday was the best day this early in a season that I can remember. It wasn't deeeeeeep, but boot-top powder at Ober is still fun (although it didn't last long).

After Christmas it will be crowded as you said, but hopefully the weather will bring some snowmaking temps and they can at least get lower Bear open. That always helps to thin out the crowds.

I was up there on Saturday as well, conditions were awesome! I did get alittle concerned when I found out the black lift was down, glad it was just a belt and only took 30minutes to fix. The morning was pretty sweet with the small crowds tho!!

I was up at Ober Sunday for the first time. conditions were still really really good and powdery. they had the snow guns blasting everywhere all day making it tough to see going down mogul. it was really crowded however and a lot of dumb people not using the lifts properly and slowing things down. lots of accidents on the slopes as well. One older santa looking man running the lift up to the top of mogul was getting pretty short with a lot of the skiers and boarders for nit picky stuff. he didnt seem to be having much fun lol.

I have. Was there with Kendall pre-2000 ('97-98ish) one day after a foot of fresh when they already had a base on everything except Grizzly. Made laps down MR pre-opening in the pow for a feature on Channel 10 News, but MR was the only trail that wasn't groomed. Somewhere I have it on VHS.

MLK weekend in January 1996. Epic winter that year (ask TD about shoveling snow). Everything was open and Ober had just got a foot of powder--it was groomed by the time I skied it that Saturday, but they were 100% open including Grizzly. Great pp conditions, no ice at all.

I was at Cat Jan 2-3 in 98 or 99 with 12-16 fresh pow. SE pow is great when we get it. I really don't recall it all being groomed out. But it does suck that when we do get pow the resorts feel the need to groom it before anyone can get on it, what a waste. Granted it only takes an hour for it to get tracked out anyway.
