Funny. I wondered about people getting lost in the glades. I asked the nice ski patrol that question when I rode the lift up at Loveland.

Not sure how often they patrol the glades, but I would assume it'd be a while before they find you. lol.

P.S. Is that why all major ski slopes close at 4:00pm in Colorado? Was kinda taken back with no night skiing/boarding. Not that I had the energy to, but still.

Not 100% sure why the 9-4 lift hrs? break down the data a bit:

how many ski places sit on national/federal lands? always close 2nd sunday in april (req open lands, free public access)

how many ski places sit on state lands? Leases/dates can vary by contract or trade of parcel in kind ( gov't speak... stuff)

how many ski places are privately owned? can do what they want to...

and last - foot traffic and snow coverage should round them out?

I also heard a rumor that it is based on electricity used....but think its B.S.?

Keystone has night skiing, never done it though as I'm usually too knackered by the end of the day to do anything but drink.

I had that thought as well -- What runs did you hit; there's pretty amazing stuff all over that mountain esp. if you venture into the upper bowls

Anyway its great you made it out west; you are now officially spoiled -- 10 to 1 you'll find a way to get back there next year

I just looked at the trail map of Copper, and oh wow. I didn't realize there was a bowl at the top of the mountain. I don't think the resort map showed it very well. Oh well. I ended up using Super Bee lift line the most.

I found the Copper Mountain was more tracked/groomed out on most of the trails than Loveland, but that could have been because of weather condition.

I definitely want to go back! ASAP!

All the good stuff at LL is off Chairs 1,4, and 9.... I only ski Chair 6 and Chair 2 (rarely) with my wife when she's cruising groomers.

I'm glad you had a good time at LL and A-Basin- when they have good snow, they're easily two of the most fun places in the Front Range. I was reminded of that last time I went to Vail. :)

I did some night skiing at Keystone and it was a bit icy because of temp. I believe they limit night skiing in the NE because of lower-temps as well.
