Great pics, Afro! Do you think the couple watching the sunrise was there all night????
And I wonder what kind of shark that is because it kinda looks like pictures of great whites, but I know there are none in captivity around here..

Thanks, I think it was a sand tiger shark in the second photo. They have 3 or 4 different types of sharks in there.

Great pics, all of them.
We went to MB the last week in June too. We wanted to stay in a beach front room but cost moved us across the street to the Best Western on 18th South. It was pretty nice compared to all the other dumps along the water.
We drove to Wilmington and went to the aquarium at Fort Fisher and took the ferry just south which was a lot of fun. The Ripley's one was on the plans until we saw the price. It was a nice place though, and it was our first time on a ferry which was also pretty neat.
We went to a local place called Mr. Fish that was excellent. All the other nights it rained and we just did takeout.
I brought my dSLR but the terrible weather kept it in the bag. Lugging that thing around is starting to be a PITA compared to a nice P&S. We have one but it's an old clunker 4mp POS that eats batteries.
The roads. Oh my God the roads... Getting there was great since we went from Wilmington to MB but going home was a nightmare. I can't believe there are no major highways going to MB. Instead, there's a 4 lane country road that goes through a zillion towns. It took us over 2 hours to get to 95 once we were on the mainland. Then gridlock on I-95 north of Fayetteville. I grew up in Florida, so I've had enough of the ocean anyways. Can't wait to move to Denver next summer

You don't understand, these are well planned speed traps with built in rest stops. When it takes an hour and a half to get to Aynor, then everyone will stop at Sparky"s to get ice cream to shut up the kids!

I must admit, I stop at Sparky's every year to restock my fireworks. That place is such a dive. You are almost compelled to stop just because of the 9 million billboards on 501.
Not sure what is worse, Sparky's or South of the Border on I 95.
I'll be there again in Aug as we move our oldest back to Coastal Carolina U.

I already plan to take your advice about getting on the road super early and leaving early if possible. We'll probably be doing Eldora for the 1st year since we're still noobs, but it normally takes us almost 4 hours to Wintergreen here, so anything less than that would be great, even with traffic.

looks like noobs can find some trouble there...
