The End of an Era...We are Shutting Down the Messageboard

The messageboard is now in read-only mode and no new posts or topics can be created. We will leave the messageboard up for historical purposes, but you will not be able to make new posts or comment on existing ones.

We have started a Discord server and hope that you all will join us on there. Technology has changed over the years and maintaining the messageboard has become somewhat of a pain in the butt and Discord offers many features for users, the main one being a very polished mobile app.

We really hope you all will join us on Discord and think you will like the platform. Use the invite link below to join.

@pagamony 217177 wrote:pretty much just like the bridges at OIB and Holden. 2 lanes, 60' high. money talks, charm walks. it was the last such bridge on the east coast. will be interesting to see what happens to the island now. for one thing, there is already not enough parking and only two lots left for parking lot development, so no one knows where all those cars are going to go. we noticed a big increase in parking on the side streets by day visitors.

next year, the new sewer line will open, which opens the doors to more dense development.

Sux, sux, sux! That just really sux. Those people will regret/resent the development when it gets beyond critical mass. You would think they'd like to keep the country, country. But some of those coastal people think "well if Johnny got $100k to sell his lots for development, I darn sure don't want to miss out on that". Who doesn't want to make money, right? Too bad they don't think what the impact will be long term. Can't wait to see a nice big condo tower go up on Sunset! Or even better, a parking deck.

If your looking for a remote place, go to Hatteras Island (more specifically Hatteras Village)... but don't tell anyone I told you that.

bald head not our style. avon, buxton, hatteras are all possibilities. heck, try camping at bear island if you really want to get away. but i think we have a few more years in sunset. spousal unit would spend all summer there if she could.
