We didn't get much free. I went and listened to the spiel and took a tour because I wanted to learn more about it. Everyone including the person that booked our appointment said there was no pressure and that the tour guides doing it would not pressure us but our guy got pretty angry when I kept telling him no. He actually slammed some drawers when he was going through his desk and threw some stuff around in the room while we were in there. IF we did buy their time share it would not be through him.

Disney's is a bit different than others that I have seen. You buy points and can use the points to stay at Disney Motel's as well as several other hotels across the world. But I am kind of skeptical because it sounds like something where there will be some kind of hidden cost, or the "maintenance fees" will keep increasing every year. But at the same time, the initial cost is about equal to what it would cost us to do 3 stays at the hotel I really want to stay at (but haven't yet). ]

Very nice pics, Afro. Did you shoot with a SLR and then transfer to digital files? I have a Nikon N65 that I haven't used in a few years and was wondering if its a complicated process to convert to digital or just not worth the hassle and effort?

I'm a DVC member and was kind of skepitcal at first, but since then(purchased in 2005) have found it to be a really good deal. My maintenance fees have only increase by $30 since I purchased it. I have found no hidden cost at all. I love the freedom I have to stay where I want and for how long. Sorry you had to deal with a Doosh. PM me if any other first hand info from a member is needed.

Thanks, I will probably shoot you a message some time soon with a few questions.

I probably forgot to add the "D" to SLR. But if you were shooting film its not too hard to have the negatives or slides converted to digital, many labs offer it. Though I personally think the cost is kind of high in comparison to just buying a DSLR. Especially when the used market is teaming with slightly older bodies for $200, $300.

I think Universal also open up the park in the middle of the night for resort guests but not too sure. I agree, the perks of staying with a Disney owned property is worth staying there alone but if you're looking for a really nice room like at the Contemporary you could easily spend half that for a 4-5 star room just outside the property or even on I-Drive.

Did you guys get out to I-Drive to check out all the stuff to do or just stick to the "Disney Compound". A lot of people get caught up in the Disney wonder too much to realize that within a 20 minute drive are just as good or better restaurants and stand alone attractions for half the price.

On a side note next time yall go to Disney if you haven't ever been to DisneyQuest I highly recommend it. For $20 you get unlimited play the biggest baddest interactive big kid arcade ever. So awesome.

We didn't do Disney Quest, I will have to check that out next time. Brandi's brother and mom went and her brother said it was boring, but hes not the best person to take advice from. I think because of the word "quest" he was expecting something like Magi-Quest. (im glad there isn't one of those on Disney's property). I want to do that roller coaster creation thing.

We haven't done anything outside of the Disney area. I saw a lot of commercials for I-Drive but it looked kind of like the strip at MB or Pigeon Forge, what all is there to do out there? In the past when we didnt stay in the park we would eat off property, usually fast food but occasionally going to Olive Garden or places like that.

That's what I thought, but just wanted clarification. My Nikon is probably only worth as a paper weight, huh? Is the lense interchangeable to a DSLR?

Im not the one to ask about Nikon, I am not too familiar (yet) with that is and isnt compatible with each other. Though for some reason I have always thought that Nikon has used the same lens mount for the past few decades so the lens you have now may or should fit.

There are other resident Nikon gurus that could give more insight. And hopefully next year when I switch I might know a bit more :-D

I'm 99% sure that if it's an old Nikon lens from an SLR, you will be able to use it on your DSLR.

jbc uses a bunch of older lenses, and a lot of older lenses are in very high demand because they were discontinued, yet had sturdier build quality and/or really great optics.

Great pics, Fro.

We love Disney and go pretty much every year...sometimes multiple times a year. We seriously considered buying into DVC at one point, but a few things stopped us. We really like the campground and prefer to stay there over any premium resort. Also, using DVC points for the campground is hard to do and isn't a great value over just paying out of pocket. For us it made more sense to put the $ into a camper. That way we can use it anytime we want, no black out dates, etc, etc.

Bronco, any Nikon F mount will work on any Nikon dslr. Although depending on the body and the lens used, you may lose autofocus and/or metering. The higher end bodies will not have a problem using the older lenses.

I only have D or G type lenses. Will these work as well?
