The End of an Era...We are Shutting Down the Messageboard

The messageboard is now in read-only mode and no new posts or topics can be created. We will leave the messageboard up for historical purposes, but you will not be able to make new posts or comment on existing ones.

We have started a Discord server and hope that you all will join us on there. Technology has changed over the years and maintaining the messageboard has become somewhat of a pain in the butt and Discord offers many features for users, the main one being a very polished mobile app.

We really hope you all will join us on Discord and think you will like the platform. Use the invite link below to join.

Yes, the tram takes you to the mountain, where you walk over a bridge and go through a rock/ice tunnel for the hike down (known as "The Arête"). We had a guide help us negotiate the crevasses.

I'm confused about the hike down -- does the tram take you to the point and then you work down some distance?

This is amazing stuff, I don't know how good a skier you are, but pretty damn good, and some of those chutes must have still been out there.

And the crevasses, basically it's like easy death

Can't see the word "crevasses" without hearing Bear Grylls pronounce it. :)

This looks endless... where does it go? And is that a hike or are those people skiing? I can't tell the angle of the "valley" there. But it looks as if you could spend an hour or 2 skiing to the bottom from here. INCREDIBLE

When there is good snow, you can ski all 9,000 feet back down to Chamonix. The trek takes the entire day. There is a slightly flat area where you can ski/pole unless you are on a snowboard.
