The End of an Era...We are Shutting Down the Messageboard

The messageboard is now in read-only mode and no new posts or topics can be created. We will leave the messageboard up for historical purposes, but you will not be able to make new posts or comment on existing ones.

We have started a Discord server and hope that you all will join us on there. Technology has changed over the years and maintaining the messageboard has become somewhat of a pain in the butt and Discord offers many features for users, the main one being a very polished mobile app.

We really hope you all will join us on Discord and think you will like the platform. Use the invite link below to join.

This is not the ski thread. This is the TR thread. You are now the Village Idiot.

No problem Tripp.... I've got a friend coming into town next weekend anyways, and he's a newbie skier.

Been thanked: 1 time

KD,

Man those pictures made me miss home a little. Charleston, SC...although I am only 3 hours away I never go home. Your parents picked a great place to retire that is for sure. Great pictures...next time head up to Charleston and take a crack with that awesome camera at all the scenery there.

My family used to make trips to Hunting Island back with I was 10 or 11. Back then there was a lot of beach, even at high-tide. The squirrels used to be so accustomed to humans that they would take food from your hands. I heard, a few years back, that the island and the lighthouse area was pretty run-down. Either that was wrong or its been cleaned up well.

Outside of the "big-city" beaches, most of the Carolina coasts look like that. Can't wait to get back.

^^^ The lighthouse area is definitely cleaned up. They have what looks like a full-time caretaker on the grounds when they're open full-time. I think the designation as a state park helps keep the area clean and up to snuff.

I can't wait to go back there and explore some more- hopefully I'll be heading back in August to relax for 5-6 days.

Bubba was out on Hunting Island- the Vietnam scenes weree filmed at the lagoon there- shhhh... don't tell anyone but if you want to get away from the crowds and the craziness of some costal areas, this is the place

ACTUALLY my dear uhhh... person... Those scenes were filmed on FRIPP Island... On Ocean Creek Golf Course... You know... the Davis Love III design that opened up in '90.... right between #5 green and #6 tee box... As were scenes from the movie "Jungle Book"... between #10 green and 11 tee box.... :D
