Brighton is the jam! We had so much more fun today. The weather was perfect again today, even a little warm at the base. The trees were fun and you could go pretty fast through them. The park was SICK. I've never been in a park with that many cool features before. Didn't get any pics but trust me, it is cool. Towards the end of the day carvebeast and I decided to go exploring. We hiked to the top of Pioneer Ridge after getting off the Crest Express. It was maybe 350 foot vertical but dang that is enough for me. I have such a new found respect for skiing rules and others who do the whole backcountry thing. You guys are beasts. It was well worth the trek up though as we rode down in some pow and hit some steep terrain. I've never created any sluff before but I did on this particular run. That run is in the first vid. The second one is the conclusion of where the first one ends. It was our best top to bottom run we had all day. The forecast for snow Sunday night into Monday is looking more and more promising. Stoked! Solitude tomorrow!

^hmm...our strategy was to go to brighton monday (hopefully the forecast continues to improve and we score a decent amount of fresh sunday night into monday) and then solitude tuesday since the good stuff tends to stick around in the trees and off trail at solitude for longer...undecided on where we are headin tomorrow, but brookbarrel is coming into town tomorrow night so we could have a mini summit if we can all decide on a resort...any interest in riding solitude tuesday or brighton monday man?

Following your trip intensely... hope the dumps take place at the beginning of the week... Brighton looks a lot better that Bird did. I've decided that I'm probably going to have to add Brighton to my schedule, if only night riding.

All the people I'm going with have either lived or lived and worked at Bird, so they're a little biased... but I'm hitting Brighton ******!

brian, i know from seeing your riding style that you will LOVE brighton. park was insane today, hit SO many fun fun features. trees are steep and well spaced, some fairly easy out of bounds hikes, and drops/cliffs everywhere that are easily accessible. go to snowbird, but don't spend all your time there. brighton is not as big, but has such a high fun factor you cannot afford to miss it man. if you ride it at night you will be limited to mostly groomers/park (still a good time, but i suggest getting a taste of it all.) THE SNOW'S COMING!!!!

I was going to go with solitude because I think overall its a better mtn mostly from a terrain and crowds (lack of crowds) standpoint. Also, I (or anyone for that matter) can get a buy one get one deal at solitude if I bring 10 vitamin water labels to the ticket window. I'm reluctant to spend on other resorts when I can ride alta with my pass, so I try to get the most bang for the buck.

I think swamphox is leaving on tuesday and he has been working trying to put something together so I'm not gonna change plans to ride on tuesday, and I already arranged to have monday off instead of tuesday. Any resort you go to will be good either day. Monday will be storm riding so the park might not be very good in the flat light, and it won't be as much scrambling for untracked snow at solitude. my 2 cents

i hear ya, our thinking for brighton monday/soli tuesday was just the knowledge that there will still be good snow to be had tuesday at soli so we can wait a day after the storm (whereas brighton might be a little more tracked). either way, if theres fresh snow we're not concerned about park riding...how well do you know soli? if you can take us to the goods, i want to join you wherever you go!
