Things are shaping up for another great weekend of skiing in the high country. Beech got a believable 6" of fresh snow yesterday, and even though there were high winds later in the day, the snow coverage seems pretty even up there. (Crazy winds at Grandfather on Wed http://www2.wataugademocrat.com/story/W ... _id_004622) It cleared up tonight and the visibility was amazing for a Beech night session. The guns were on, but not on Robbins and Southern.

It warmed up a little today so the leftover powder had a thick crust in spots, but all of your favorite rock drops and cliff hucks are ready to go. The moguls on Lightning are continuing to grow, and Southern Star has gone ungroomed since the storm (from what I could tell). Someone has been praying to the roller gods, because Lightning had some massive whales going on tonight. There were so many fun lines all the way down the hill tonight, it was so great i didnt stop to get any pictures. I'll be there for an hour or so tomorrow morning at rope drop and ill post pictures of all this when i get back. Here's what i got this afternoon between accounts etc:

Bradshaw bummed when she saw me packing gear:

Wish I could have ridden the day session, it was beautiful in Banner Elk:

Beech Mtn Parkway was cleared and dried:

Cars buried behind the Alpen Inn:

I need to do some location scouting to find a better view:

Yesterday was pretty amazing at Beech. Snow conditions stayed awesome with some pow spots on the sides. Those rollers on lightning are insane! Hope they didn't groom them down last night. Jam, if you come to Beech often, look for me. I'm always looking for new ppl to take runs with. I'm there every day. Usually wearing a bright green jacket/black pants.

Jam, with your Gold Card do you still have to get a lift ticket or does the card serve as your pass? I'm thinking about getting one for next year. My pass at App lets me walk from my car right to the slopes. I like that.

afaik no one requires you to go get an actual lift ticket. i havent gotten one yet this season

It was really foggy out there this morning. Kind of disappointing day, because the light was so flat, and the fog was pretty bad. I couldn't tell if the rollers were still there on lightning, but it seems like they flattened them out a bit. Lift 6 was choppy but ride-able, and all of the rock drops up top are covered, some even have mini cornices now, lol. I was tempted to go do some east coast pole whacking, but time was limited. The terrain park is still in decent shape, and a ton of fun.

Sugars visibility was slightly better than that this morning. You're welcome to anyone out today. It seems to only clear up when I leave for work.(gotta quit that $^!t) Snow was nice, fluffy in spots from the new snow this morning.

I would have liked to see the grill on the Harley.
