I stopped by snow mountain, the dumb tubing set up they have at stone mountain outside atlanta. They have a good bit of snow. check it out here:

(It's flash, otherwise, I would link the images to show them here.)

They use a system thats similar to what tenney mountain in NH tried to use. Basically, a building off site produced ice shavings that are blown through a plastic tube at high speeds to where the snow piles are and there, the snow is thrown up in about snowball sized chunks. So they aren't dependent on weather to produce their snow. But that doesn't stop them from reporting they have received 2 inches of new snow in 24 hours and 47 inches in the week. Wow. Looks like those storm cycles have been treating the unique microclimate of laser lawn of stone mountain very well. haha, what a joke.

But they do have a decent base set down. There were tons of people there and lines around too. Plus I've never seen so many black people around snow before(dont take that the wrong way. its just an observation). Im picturing a jump out of all the snow at the end of the season. It could be sick. Im also picturing someone poaching it, which would be fun too. I might have to.

Btw, steamboat and virgin islands tr coming soon.

I went and looked at that thing last week before it opened. It looks like a $25 ($15 for park memebers) total cluster edit. That ramp to get to the top of the platform looks like a nightmare when it is busy and I am sure the staff is very friendly and helpful ;). If they would open it during the week I would consider going when there are less crowds but you would have better chance of playing pick-up sticks with your butt cheeks then to get me near that thing on the weekend. On the plus side I think it will be a good place to view this seasons selection of camo coveralls.

not steep enough to or long enough to be worth the potential jail time. Other than the ramp up top it looks flatter than Sugars learning area.

The majority of the people in the Dekalb County prison would probably not be too kind to a guy coming in there in ski clothes who just got arrested for trying "poach" a 50 yard long pile of shaved ice. None the less knock yourself out though and be sure to post pics.
