After I woke up, I spent an hour debating whether or not I was going to make it...especially considering the -4 degree windchill Beech was claiming on their website...(wo)man'd up and got the Stanza up the mountain successfully!
A little view of Grandfather on the way up
Tried to capture a shot of Sugaaaa
A little blurry, but (happy) proof that my car did NOT overheat on the way up!!
Pretty ominous looking clouds, although they didn't end up threatening my skiing
Looking up the mountain on the drive
Was a little worried when I saw these, but convinced myself they were all going to be together in the Play yard...may have been wrong
Started the first wind off around 10:30 with a Second Wind
First run of the day, looking down from the lift chair
Looking up at the connector from Upper Robin's to Lower Southern Star...not the best of conditions, but worth the run I made on it!
A couple shots looking down upper Shawnee...see the variety in wind patterns, as these were taken within seconds of one another
Laughing at the people standing face forward into the guns
Ran into Carvebeast with some of his Raleigh bo's
Guy Fieri sporting his skinny jeans...Carvebeast to the right there
Around 2:30, before my last run...much windier, much cloudier...many-a-gaper cluster fluck
Things I wish I would have gotten pictures of...
1) Skiier guy stuck in the ditch by one of those blue barrels, legs sprawled and askew
2) Skiier girl who made it to Freestyle only to take of her BOOTS and walk in socks in the snow--not to mention one of the boots deciding to slide its way all the way down the rest of the hill
3) The surprise "landing" change for the side hit at the end of Upper Shawnee after lunch...what was once a flat landing, turned into the landing zone for all the snow coming from the snow gun above it...a nice icy/chunky/snowy mound/hill to help me with a jib that was already a challenge for me! (Carvebeast can attest to this surprise as well!)
