Arrived at Winterplace around 8:45 this morning, to about 4 inches on the ground and light mixed precip coming down. The forecast was in a constant state of flux for the past couple days, and the changeover from snow to rain happened earlier than I thought. Luckily, it really only misted on and off all morning, so we didnt really get rained on.

Mellow Yellow rolled into the parking lot about 5 minutes after me, and we hit the slopes right as the lifts started to turn. What had fallen was heavy heavy heavy heavy sierra cement stylie, which Mellow henceforth referred to as "riding in milkshake". So there you go.

These pics arent the best- the light was almost completely flat, and I didn't have the patience to set up a good shot :D

The patrollers had already started having fun in snowbowl:

Mellow Yellow is a cheater. His ninja carve style allows him to get waist deep:

This is more like it...

but wait....FACESHOT??!?!?!!?

I just missed NCSUsKING in full daffy. Here is how it started:

In the distance, a sighting...

SLASH!

the elusive Green Hornet into the distance...

Here is a visual reference as to why Winterplace rules on a weekday when it snows. I laid down every one of these tracks, back to back:

The place is practically empty in the mornings. Next season, when it snows, take the day off and make the trip. Pow fields await.

Shhhh! Don't let the secret out.

But seriously, Winterplace is the only resort I know where snow actually discourages people from coming.

Typically I have a strict no-Winterplace policy on Saturdays. You think they'll be crowded tomorrow?

I don't know,it's March, once most flatlanders get a taste of warm weather, they forget about skiing. One thing I really like about WP,they at least leave a little bit of powder somewhere after it snows, even during a weekend!Weekday during the slow part of the season, you guys scored!
