My parents will be retiring soon and will be moving down to Beaufort, SC- so last week I went with my dad to hang out at the house for 5 days to relax and play golf. The area is so relaxing and beautiful- I'll be making many trips there in the future. If any of you live in the area, consider yourself very lucky- the combination of rivers, creeks, and ocean make for some unbelieveable scenery. On to the pics:

Seeing these guys in SC is like seeing deer in CO.

Maintenance shed on Parris Island.

Entry door to the Hunting Island lighthouse.

Lighthouse with an old camp building in the foreground.

Good thing I had a wide-angle lens.

Hunting Island beach, looking like a scene from Lost.

On the way out, a nice natural frame.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

The dock outside of Dockside Restaurant in Port Royal.

Shrimpin' boats... where's Bubba?

The Riverfront in Beaufort- absolutely beautiful.

Can't complain about the view.

This was the view from the patio of one of the old homes in town.

Old Episcopal church in Beaufort- from the 1700's.

My dad's new/used trusty 21' bay boat... can't wait to get back out on that thing.

I'm glad you had a chance to explore the SC coast. The pictures are beautiful! My favorite is Edisto Island. I hope you get to check it out sometime.

Bubba was out on Hunting Island- the Vietnam scenes weree filmed at the lagoon there- shhhh... don't tell anyone but if you want to get away from the crowds and the craziness of some costal areas, this is the place

I actually really like Beaufort, it has the laid back combination of rednecks, fishermen, and beach bums that has been lost along other parts of the SC coast.

TD- right on.... it has a ridiculously relaxed feel about the whole place. Its kind of like a small oasis among the hordes of crowds.

Really digging this one:

I love the slight gradient in the sky and the shadow in the water foreground.

I have seen one wild alligator my whole life despite living in louisiana before. Some redneck guy showed me some pond on a bean farm with a decent sized one in it. We fed it some chicken.

Nice pics btw.
