Since my wife works Mon-Thu, we're able to have a three day weekend every week (especially while I'm still looking for my dream job). So, with that in mind, we headed down to Colorado Springs to check out the Garden of the Gods. Having lived in CO for almost 6 years now, I have never really explored Colorado Springs much- and haven't ever seen G of G either. My bad- this place is beautiful. The rock formations are something straight out of Bryce Canyon in Utah, but placed right at the foot of Pikes Peak. If you're out this way and have a few extra hours, its worth the trip.

To give you a perspective of how close the Garden is to Pikes Peak:

Next to the main parking lot:

Looking south:

These spires were ~100 feet tall or so:

Great for rock climbing in a lot of spots:

The small trees at the base of the rocks are about 25 feet tall.

Sarah posing in front of Pikes Peak.

The trail of the gods.

Some cool old bristlecone pines:

And finally... a perfect day.

Not lately... we've been getting a ton of rain in the last month or so, and with the constant cloud cover, it has been tough to take good pictures.

Beautiful pics! I've hiked in many of the national parks out west, but have not been here. I'm putting this on my list of places to go. Thanks for sharing.

^^^ Its actually not a Nat'l Park, its only a city park in Colorado Springs. It was private land that was donated by the owner for that reason.

I think I would have an unexpected bowl movement if I did that.
