This is one of those times, like when skiing and I'm standing at the top of a very steep hill, asking myself, "What am I doing here?" This time it was Wrightsville Beach, staring at the ocean getting ready to swim 1.2 miles! Sure, I had a wetsuit (aka sausage casing) and it was with the current (whoo hoo) still, waiting for the gun to go off, it takes everything to not turn and walk away (or walk down the side of the steep hill) and get the party started.

Water temp at 67 degrees, I cut 7 minutes off my swim time from the year before, only had one time that I felt something swim by my leg (and didn't scream like a little girl). Coming out of the swim they have wetsuit strippers (guys get your mind out of the gutter) and pulled the wetsuit off. Luckily, everything stayed in place (no wardrobe malfunction) and it was off to the 56 mile bike. Weather good, roads flat and fast the only problem was my Bumm KILLING me by the end, so waddle off to the 13.1 mile run. Running is my strongest sport so this was my favorite part! We ran through downtown Wilmington then ended back at the Battleship for a celebration!

All in all great day! Shaved 30 minutes off my time from the year before so I was pretty excited. A girl from Winston Salem won the Ironman doing 140.3 miles in just over 10 hours. My time for the half was 6 hours 35 min of continuous exercise. Gets me ready for ski season!

Oh, and nothing like relaxing at the beach (hobbling around the beach) the next day in my SkiNC sweatshirt!

Boy,your tough!I don't even know if I could complete one of those sprints! The most I ever swam was 1/2 a mile and that was swimming 1/4 mile across the lake, walking onto the shore and swimming back, kind of cheating. The most I ever ran was 6 or 7 miles, did a couple 10k s while stationed in Germany, best times were around 39 and 40 minutes, don't run any more, don't want to blow out my knees, trying to save them for skiing! The most I ever rode a bike was probably 10 miles.I wonder if they have any competitions that has swimming and bike but no running?
