I had to work a little bit Friday for my medical transport gig. Got off work and headed up.
My fav part of the drive is through Rabun County which has that great mix of vice, tourist traps and old time southern heritage that I like. Where else can you find a strip club in a single wide trailer, a massage parlor, snake handling preachers and a "Goats on the roof" all in the same place?
2 things of note that might now show up in the vids or pics:
1. It was 80% snowboarders and that proportion got higher as the night wore on. It was probably 95% by the time I left at 930pm. Quite literally 1 skier for about every 20 boarders
2. The terrain park looks very encouraging. Lots of construction. Lots of wwood dropped on site indicating ever more building. It looks pretty good sized.
Got to the mountain and after a long steep drive...was greeted to a late afternoon view
They had the snow guns blowing as much as possible. The creek made for a fun time. I heard both phrases in line "Huck the muck" and "Trudge through the sludge" Use whichever you think is appropriate.
Looking up the hill there was still a little bit of natural snow in the shady parts. They only had one lift going and were planning on opening up to the top of the quad saturday which is great news. BTW the lift only stopped once and I think it was due to technical difficulties rather than a miley pile up
Some decent shots of the sun shining through the snow and the trees. Im a ****** for stuff like this.
Surrounded by snow guns on lower omg
From the bottom up
I was able to do an insane amount of laps (around 12 an hour). This led to accumulations of snow and ice...on me. I figure that being covered in a crust of ice and snow is an indicator of a good day.
I had a ball. Enjoy the interview and the TR vid.
