Well, I just got home from my 6 hour drive back from Cataloochee (should have only taken 3 hours). My wife and I skied the day session as the twilight session was cancelled. LOTS of fresh snow. There was about 6 inches of snow while we were there - it was beautiful to see! In my opinion there was too much fresh snow and it was actually difficult to cut well and get any speed. You also had to be careful of the snowpiles and drifts caused by the skiers and boarders. The bottom of the hill had a lot of mini-moguls which was caused by all the skiers. I bet tomorrow will be great once it is groomed well. Be careful driving there, the roads were very poor (and I'm from NY).

Perfect example of why Snowshoe (IMHO) over grooms.

You can't ski the greens in a foot of fresh.

pows good, but if you're small it can slow or stop you on greens & some blues. last yr one sunday afternoon beech got about 13-15" of snow. my daughter would come down upper shaw fine, but 1/2 the way thru lower shaw she would come to a stop. she had to unbuckle and walk to the next steep part. we finally quit b/c she was worn out. still a fun day. let it snow!

No, POW is GREAT. I know it takes some effort to learn, but so does riding or skiing in general.

And Skipink, maybe Santa will bring you some! ;)
