I got into to Cat Saturday at 3 PM and stayed until 9:30 PM. Riding single the entire time. I held off on leaving RTP until before 10 AM. The carnage on the roads was still evident in areas. A couple of stuck 18 wheelers on Black Mountain. A stranded snowplow - even a convoy of abandoned bridge girders loaded onto big rigs - they were still sitting there Sunday on the way home. Lots of stuck cars - even a fresh rollover just before reaching exit 27 on 40 West.
I hit Cat again at 8:45 AM Sunday until I got bored of skiing by myself at 3PM. Rode double twice the entire day. Business on the slope started to pick up at 1PM. That's when the line would occasionally stretch out to about 10 to 15 people. I usually skipped the line to the top and took the quad when folks where waiting to reach the top. I never saw a line on the quad.
They left Upper Omigosh and the top of Ally Cat (maybe all of it) ungroomed Saturday night. The bumps on the top were interesting for me - since I can't keep a rhythm in large, oddly spaced bumps. Saturday afternoon the snow got wet - as night came on it dried out and stayed soft. Sunday the snow was pretty much the same - light and easy to ski. Fog rolled in around 2 PM on Sunday. It was still snowing a little bit on Sunday morning. It was such a light snow - back light by some sun peaking through the clouds - causing it to look like little streaks of silver in my vision.
I saw absolutely no familiar faces and just skied constantly except for food and drink breaks. Both days I was parked right behind the ski school building.
No - no photos - I didn't bother with the camera. Nothing but memories for proof.
