2-5 inches of ice, downed trees, widespread power outages, on top of 12 inches of snow with another 2 inches of rain. This was one crazy storm and a very memorable x-mas in Banner Elk. This is Highway 181 on my way to grab a generator in Morganton.

2-5 inches of ice?A quarter of an inch is enough to cause major problems!I was thinking of going night skiing at Sugar(1st trip of the year),wonder if the roads will still be messed up!

Read the latest about Boone/Banner Elk roads on SkiSE/NC homepage. Sounds like roads are clear.

roads are fine. the snow is good. I was on sugar at 7 am this morning setting up for the races. It wasn't as icy as I thought it would be...considering all the rain.
