Without whining too much, suffice to say i had a crappy morning yesterday so what better way to run away from one's problems then a solo trip to the mountains to ski. Headed to Maggie Valley for the night session. I left Atlanta around 2 and got into Maggie Valley about 5 and got my skis and some pretty good pizza at the garlic knot. read there until about 545 and then headed up to the mountain.

saw lots of minivans leaving so i got a little excited. however, it was sufficiently crowded with an abundance of REALLY bad skiiers...young and old...I warmed up on the green run at the bottom of the mountain and noticed a little ice which was the first indicator that it wasn't going to be good with all of the new skiiers. Actually, it was kind of funny at first to see them blaze down the hill, crash and burn at the bottom, and slide about 30 feet to a top. It was funny, UNTIL.....some guy who had to be in his 40s-50s blindsided me from behind and knocked me off my skis. I never wanted to bash someone in the face with my skis so bad. however, i just clicked in and skiied off and spent the rest of the night on the upper part of the mountain which was pleasingly devoid of people who can't avoid other people (besides the occasional snowboarder that hit a pocket of ice and just immediately crashed and slid into whatever was in his path).

the conditions were pretty icy in some spots but they were blowing on some trails which made it nice and usually on the sides, there was nice powder to be found. besides the the guy running me over from behind with no warning, i had a great time and skiied until they turned the lifts off.

drive back to atlanta was good as the highways are always nicer at night. at the rest of my pizza and made it back in about 130 in the am.

i'm gonna try to be back sometime late in the week one last time before school starts since the temps are only getting better and there's a chance of snow this week also.

sorry for the lack of pics but my camera battery was dead and my i didn't feel like fooling with the iphone bc that would involve taking off my gloves and it was plenty cold.
