So woke to another 3 inches of fresh snow, THAT got the family moving at little early. Wanted to register the SS Spongebob for the cardboard box derby! Got him registered then found out that all pilots of boxes had to be 18 years or older (I guess I fit in the OR OLDER) category. Of course, everyone in the family turned and looked at ME, time for Mom to take another one for the family. Had two hours to make turns, snow was incredible-groomed nicely with fresh and fun on the edges! Best run of the day was white lightening, especially down the side where everyone carved a few moguls as the day went on!

Derby time and was shocked at all the cool entries - USS Enterprise, alligator, heart, golf cart - 12 entries including Spongebob. Ours was the only one that StILL looked like a carboard box! Put my Big A in the box and kids and Dad gave me a good shove down the hill. Did a few swimming type moves to speed up (it is spongebob afterall) and made it to the bottom before falling over. Didn't win but had one very happy family.

8 year was talked into signing up for Big Air. Spend a hour walking aimlessly saying, "I can't believe I did this." Could tell he was scared to death but he did two good jumps! The skiers and boarders were incredible, massive jumps, even better wipe outs (some wipeouts got better cheers!) son won 2nd place in his age division, he was pretty psyched and already talking about the next one!

All in all, only 3 hours of actually hitting the slopes but full day at Beech, lots of fun and a little too much Red Bull (youngest was sneaking it)!

We got there at noon on Saturday too late for the bikini contest so I know lots of you will just stop reading now. :D

However the day was almost perfect in the conditions. It was 9*, a lot warmer than the 4* from last Saturday and the snow was as good as it gets. No ice anywhere, just lots of powder, unfortunately mostly tracked out before we got there. The crowds were moderate on the front side but nonexistant on Oz, lapping every time. It was an exceptionally beautiful winter wonderland with all the new snow overnight and no guns blowing. All the runs were fantastic. Bultaco was really pleased with White Lightning and Southern Star and I had lots of fun on Robbins and Oz and the in the Meadows.

Sorry I missed the Spongebobmobile and I would have given anything to see the Wolf do the big air. Congrats buddy! Now we just have to get the youngest on the rail jam!

Onto the pics

The creek by Powderbowl is now completely covered

Lower White Lightning and Freestyle
