So based on advice by, well, lets just call this person Mr. X, I went to Wolf on Sunday. What did he say you ask? He said simply... "Wolf Ridge 100% open - this may not happen for another 10 years... Should be damn near impossible for it to be icy, and the terrain is awesome, not to mention $10 cheaper than Sugar..."

10-10-10... kept coming up.... it was a sign of things to come...

I'm glad I listened to his sage advice....

Pic waiting for first chair... looking up Broadway

Whistling Dixie

Upper Streak

Mr. X on the Bowl (best run of the day - not groomed - pushed around never frozen goodness - plus some small stashes along the edge of the run...

Lift shot looking at the top of wolf ridge/viewfinder

THE TUNNEL :eek::eek::eek:

Looking up upper & lower boardwalk and drop in (no terrain park features were set up, but plenty of untouched fresh!).... at noon!

Looking up wolf ridge

Some parking lot foolishness.... all I can say is it involved a few numb nuts parking on a grade...

When we left at around 1, my watch said we did 10 +/- vert.... :>)

The end.....

How are the crowds up at Wolf? I've never been before, but do the lifts keep it moving pretty well. Thinking I might head up on Wednesday.

it was dead until about noon on Sunday... my guess is Wed would be fairly dead.... temps are going to remain low, so it should be good on Wed...

however this was my first time at the Wolf.... soooo take that with a grain of salt... maybe the cold temps scared folks off....

Never been want to go but I'll have to wait for the next window -- the terrain looks at least as good as anything in NC

I grew up skiing at Wolf. The terrain is great...the key (obviously) is lots of natural snow ...

For the intermediate to expert skiier or rider, Wolf was THE place to be in NC this weekend. All of the steep terrain open and lots of ungroomed powder runs. The Bowl, Flame Out, Southern Express and Way Out were all left ungroomed.

Plenty of groomers for those who prefer it. Even the groomed slopes had plenty of powder stashes on the sides. Even the newer Breakaway slope and quad lift was open. Nice weekend to be there.

Unfortunately it takes natural snow to make Wolf great, they will not do it on their own up there. Lots of their terrain is only open because of natural snow.
