Great day to sneak away and ski. Cat was open top to bottom. I drove my '85 Westy, the perfect ski vehicle. Parked close, changed inside with the pop top up. Kept a thermos of good coffee inside, so as I was leaving, I had a good cup o' joe.
There is plenty of snow down; providing it doesn't warm up too much, or evil snow eating fog come in, they should be skiing at Cat until mid-March at least.
Top to bottom, on every run, no ice. It was groomed very, very well. Cold in the morning, but by mid-day it was beautiful. Sunshine and no lines. Everything was open, short of The Meadows. That doesn't happen often.
The most inspirational thing was a guy skiing very well in a chair. He was also using American Sign Language. He was really getting it on the way down. Good on 'em as my Kiwi friends say.
If you can escape mid-week, do. You can't beat it.
