This evening I decided to take things to the next level and do some night skiing at home with the homemade ski lift while conditions are great! Still soft snow on the north face slope with good coverage.
The snow fence did a great job of drifting the last upslope snow event we had here. I am guessing it is about 12-20 inches PACKED DOWN behind the fence. Bumps are growing this evening and that means a few thin spots that will probably be grass after the weekend.
I had to work past dark today and will be busy all weekend. Had 3 LED flashlights which are AMAZING and skied for at least an hour tonight. I could see very well. With no shame I taped them to the top of broom sticks and stabbed them in the snow. LOTS of fun was had and my legs actually burned a few times. I had the mower on the fastest gear so getting up was fast. Lots of vert was had this evening!
Under the lights!
That's right, a few soft bumps made for fun!
A few pow turns still to be had near the edge, don't leave the trail though, rocks haven't been cleared there.
The power behind all the fun!

Great stuff. Snow looks great. You need some LED bike lights mounted on your helmet.

Or better yet, one of those head light things that has a band that you stick on your head. They're really cheap online from www.dealextreme.com or www.meritline.com

Also, what is the grade/pitch of the run - green, blue etc?
I would compare it to Upper Appal at App. Maybe Cascade at Winterplace. Lower Ballhooter at SS. But let me tell you, it is hard to hang on to the rope. Harder than skiing. The rope alone could almost be considered double diamond! Especially when I crank the mower on high speed.
Vertical wise....if I go all the way to the top to bottom, I'd say it is really close to 80-100 ft. Just for simplicity I round it to 100 when counting how much vert I get in a day/evening. 3000 vertical feet after work ain't too shabby! Especially when it's free! Plus when combined with the effort to hold onto the rope, it is a really good workout.
