Not exactly a normal MLK weekend crowd today at Massanutten. The rain sent people to the waterpark instead. Although by noon it wasn't raining any more. The problem in the afternoon was that the clouds rolled down the mountain so visibility was poor almost everywhere. I didn't bother to go back after lunch even though the conditions underfoot were pretty nice . . . groomed and soft but not approaching slushy, not icy, air temp about 40.
No waiting at Lift 4 or 3 or 5 around 12:00
Almost no one on Southern Comfort
No one at top of Diamond Jim and ParaDice . . . really!

Had a wonderful time with Marz Jr. and a couple ski buddies on Sat, Jan. 16. Perfect spring skiing conditions. Great for the ski buddies who are still most comfortable on green runs, although they can ski easy blues. Temps in the 50's. Quite different than the 20's a week ago. Spring corn in the afternoon.
No crowds until lunch time. We took a long lunch at our condo unit on the mountain. Headed back to ski around 3:30 when the wait at on the lower lifts was 10-15 min. Stayed until 6:30 since the girls wanted to ski under the lights. My understanding from talking to a few people was that there was never a line on Lift 6 at the top of the mountain, even during midday.
The new quad for Lift 3 definitely helps keep things moving when there are lots of beginners around. The conveyor means relatively few stops due to falling newbies, at least at the bottom.
The two ski buddies took a clinic at 10:30 while Marz Jr. and I enjoyed ParaDice. Only two others in the clinic group. The instructor used to teach at Winterplace. Seems to like Mnut better. Although there are a few groups, it's nothing like at WP.
Southern Comfort 10:30am
Southern Comfort (right), Lower Showtime, no line at Lift 5 (blues)
Diamond Jim 11:00am
Lift lines at the bottom building starting around noon
Lines around 3:00, about 10 min waits
The "crowd" coming off DJ and ParaDice at 4:30pm
