The day before the storm.
Bronco Boarder, Copper Mtn Fan and I headed up to Cat to celebrate the 7th anniversary of CMF's 39th birthday on Friday. The conditions started out a little crunchy, but that got skied off pretty quickly to be packed powder most of the day. And then the snow started around 1:30 and we had a few great runs before attempting to beat the storm out of town.

Cataloochee had groomed in some whales on Turkey Trot:

The glades areas were skiable but icy in the AM but I'm sure they'll be great over the weekend
And this is just the beginning of the 8 hour drive home (usually
The roads coming back were worse than expected for only a few hours of snowfall at that point. Props to Bronco Boarder for getting us back safe and sound, and props to CMF and myself for pushing cars out of our way to so he could get the CRV through. Once the plows got to the roads, most people could get through, but waiting for the plows and then the people who couldn’t get going again was an adventure. I’m looking forward to hearing how the roads were today and tomorrow.
