Yes, I'm back at Massanutten. Found a way to stay on the mountain this weekend, so drove up to Charlottesville Thu night. Marz Jr. is staying with our friends there. Drove the 4WD pickup this time. Useful on the mountain in the afternoon, but not required. I drove over the mountains on US33 north of Charolottesville about 7:30am this morning. Snow had started but the roads were fine.

Been snowing all day. Brighter early afternoon, then the snow got a little wet for maybe 30 minutes. But stayed relatively light at the top of the mountain. At least 6 inches so far. Once the new snow got scrambled, it took some work to make turns. No grooming, although maybe they did a little after closing last night. The bumps on MakAttack are pretty huge now. Plenty of them on ParaDice too. A few icy spots were showing through in the afternoon on MakAttack, Upper Showtime, PD, and DJ.

After 3pm, the clouds rolled down the mountain so visibility became an issue. A lot fewer people than Wed. Some local high schoolers, but not many families were braving the snowy roads. The Mnut mountain road stayed okay since it was about 32 degrees, so they could keep plowing.

Snow totals could be as high as 30 inches by Sat night! Probably going to leave the truck parked at the condo and walk over to the access stairs on Geronimo. Not exactly ski in/out, but close enough during a massive snowstorm.

Arrival 8:30am

Snowing hard at 10am, covering clear lift seat in 3-4 min

Resort Drive relatively clear at 11:30am

Lift 4 on Southern Comfort, 9:30am

Lift 6, 10am

Lift 3 on Geronimo, 2:30pm

Lodge boardwalk being cleared, again, 2:30pm

Leaving ski lodge parking lot 4pm

Got lucky that everything came together quickly yesterday afternoon. The question is whether or not I can get Marz Jr. back on Sun evening so she doesn't miss another day of school. I'm sure she'd be happy to get snowed in for a week in Charlottesville. :D

Good call to head on up yesterday... some of my extended family was headed to WTG this afternoon, hopefully they made it okay... from the webcams it looked like roads were okay to Waynesboro through late afternoon... I'm still stuck in the office trying not to work this weekend... booo... so WTG not looking good for us tomorrow, but maybe Sunday... Have a blast!

Such dedication! Hope you make it to WTG on Sunday. It's supposed to get colder after the snow stops on Sat, so the conditions should be great all week.

Just listened to the voice mail from 8:30pm that announced Massanutten Resort Drive (the road up to the ski lodge) requires 4WD. Presumably that will apply for most, if not all, of Sat, Feb. 6 too.

Wind is blowing more.

Added: 8:30am Sat

Resort Drive is officially open for any vehicle. But 4WD highly recommended. The road outside my unit is relatively clear. The little plows could keep up with the light snow since they were running all night. The folks who arrived last night from Winchester just pulled out to go skiing.

They are! Today the snow coming down is the dry fluffy powpow. Still coming down. Probably at least 4 inches since 8am this morning.

After a few hours in a "dry slot" Friday evening, the snow started coming down heavily again. During the day, there was dry powder flying around all morning. Got pretty tired of clearing off the front of the truck.

8:30am in front of condo, added 8 inches overnight

1:30pm in ski lodge parking lot, a few more inches
