Really really really late, but here it is.

Three of us drove out, spent 5 days on snow. Stayed in Avon, about 5 minutes walk from the Westin gondola up to Beaver Creek.

Impressions: Everybody who said the drive wouldn't be worth it just don't know what they're talking about. Yeah it was long, but it was a blast, and gave us an opportunity to see a part of the country I'd never been through before.

Vail definitely caught my affection more than BC, but both were amazing. BC was very much reminiscent of a large version of the East by closing time. President Ford's started out a blast, but quickly iced over as the sun drifted out of sight. Same with Centennial. Nothing fresh for a good few weeks before we got there, meaning lots of bumps, which I am not extremely good with, but still had a blast.

Vail stole our hearts at run 1. We spent 1 day at BC and ended up spending 4 at Vail, mostly in the back bowls, skiing trees and finding surprisingly deep stashes even when the snow report was only saying 2-4 inches of fresh.

Lots of ski pr0n here.

Spend some more time at BC next time you're out this way.... you'll love it more and more each visit. Personally, I prefer BC over Vail 9 times out of 10, but I know others who are the opposite.

What can I say, I love Beaver.

I would love to ski there when it was fresher, and maybe with somebody who knew it better. Don't get me wrong. Every run blew my mind in comparison to here, but something about the bowl skiing at Vail just turned my crank :D. I couldn't wipe the silly grin off my face all day.

The Grouse Mountain area at Beaver Creek is one of my favorites around here- steep, sustained pitch for 2k vert. I can see how the back bowls at Vail could do that to you, though. ;)

I liked BC a lot better than Vail when I was out there a few years ago. However I had one hell of a guide to show me around.

I prefer Vail too, although there are parts of BC that I really like. Enjoyed the pics! Thanks for sharing.
