Spending a week in north Tahoe. Meeting up with Ski Divas starting Sunday. Also doing a 3-day clinic for Divas only Mon-Wed. Didn't bother to bring skis. Planning to demo several different skis.

Spent our first ski day at Homewood. 18 inches new snow at the top, which was powder but on the heavy side. Took the opportunity to demo some K2 Phat Luvs. First time on anything that fat, 102 underfoot. Quite an experience!

Pretty warm, so the lower mountain got pretty soft by mid-morning. We spent most of the day over on the Old Homewood Express lift. Only had to wait more than a couple minutes right after lunch. Starting sleeting just when we decided to quit for the day. Then some wet snow. Supposedly Truckee got 3 inches today.

All in all, a great place for a first day. :D

Rock star parking in the North Lot at 8:15am

Deep powder in the morning - Miner's Delight is a blue run

Under the Old Homewood Express quad

Rainbow Ridge (green)

Ski Buddy on steeper powder slope, much easier

North lot - with mogul course set up for a junior race

Having fun in the sun

Nice start to your trip!By the looks of those 2 lift shots from the old homewood express there wasn't even a need to take the noonchester traverse yet for the freshies. You could probably go back in 3 or 4 days (or longer) and still get untouched snow over in hobbit land + the glades.Just an idea.

The problem is that it got pretty warm yesterday and today. In the mid-40's. So only staying powder at the higher elevations. In any case, since I'm taking a clinic, the next few days are pre-defined: Sugar Bowl, Alpine Meadows, Squaw. Planning on Northstar on Thu because we have a 2-for-1 coupon.
