With all the snow on the ground I decided to hike up a nice spot just down the road a mile or so from my house. I took the sunny pics on Friday of the area, but decided to wait until Sunday morning to ski since we were forecasted to get a foot or more over the weekend. Instead we got a few windblown inches , but I still decided to go. The hike up was pretty tough, it was a good amount of elevation gain, close to 5000ft at the top. The pics aren't that great because it was pretty foggy. The snow was windblown, crusty, icey with a few areas of powder. Friday's slight thaw and refreeze combined with the wind caused the less than perfect conditions. I made a few hard earned runs and called it a day. Hopefully we'll get another nice dump before the season ends, I'd like to get back up there on a nice day. Those trees look nice don't they?
No chance I was walking up in my boots carrying my skis.
I'm getting there.
Looking down from my stopping point.
Stopped a little short of the ridge because of the ice and wind.
Done!
