The Mission: SkiSE Snowshoe Summit
The Plan of Attack: Leave early Friday, play hard, return late Sunday
The Result: A hell of a good time
After roughly 11 hrs of driving we arrived at 4848' at approximately 5:25pm just in time for the live sat feed. We met up with some of the crew and piled our gear into the condo. After unpacking and chillin for a bit 10 of us made our way over to The Junction for some dinner. The food was good, and the drinks were flowing. It was a good start to the weekend.
What I found at the top of Ballhooter Saturday morning
Troublemakers
The dedicated
Ed and his fancy camera
We lapped the Ballhooter lift until the crowds started showing up, then made our way over to the Soaring Eagle
Teledave
hnhbaxter and his robster craw
As I was checking my settings on the cam I looked up to see this sliding past
Mellow Yellow
Captain America with my cousin in tow
We eventually made our way over to the Western Territory
Mellow trenching up Lower Shay's
After a quick lunch I went in search of Eastcoaster and SkiATL. I found them at the top of a bootpack
EC in the BC
SkiATL
EC setting with SkiATL in tow.
A longer look at it
Great views and very peaceful
After hauling myself back to the truck it was time to clean up for the party
Mellow knocking out some Paul Revere
We had a big ole' time at the SkiSE party
hnh, EC, SkiATL
Rob checking Dave's A cups
The hoodie line was sketch
MC Mike D and Snowshoe top brass Bill Rock
The party was super fun. I wasn't able to attend last year, but this year was big improvement when compared to the first. Many thanks to Mike and his SkiSE staff, Laura Parquette, Bill Rock, and other Snowshoe peeps who helped pull everything together. Well done.
A large handful of us were invited to duck the ropes and destroy the groomers Sunday morning. Now I am not a fan of groomers, but SS did lay down some nice corduroy. I am sure Captain America was grinning ear to ear.
Blacky demonstrating that Lhasa Pow's can do groomers
Bill Rock
This was a great weekend for sure. The weather, the skiing, the party (and afterparty), first tracks, etc were all top notch. Thanks again to all involved in putting on the 3rd annual summit, especially Snowshoe. On the drive home I was thinking about how well they do customer service. From the lift ops, the servers, patrol, to the top guys....everyone is super nice and professional. Where else can you chat with the COO of a resort about everything from kids, to dirtbikes, to ski gear while being treated to free food and free lifties?
Can't wait for the next one!
