This (broken core):
plus This (probable broken ankle):
=EastCoaster's season might be finito. Possibly broken Talus. If its a deep bone bruise, then I can probably go to Salt Lake in two weeks. If its broken, 6-8 weeks non weight-bearing. Saw a hairline in the X-ray, but MRI tomorrow will know for sure. I actually skied for 3+ hours on it, including that exact same line (pissed off I fell the first time). Amazing how far tight boots and endorphins will get you.
Honestly, when I looked up at what I fell through, I had the "holyshit I am really lucky" laugh happen. Full on ragdoll, probably 5-6 tumbles, very scary; I could have gotten hurt a lot worse.
Also, Crested Butte is pretty gnarly. You know, in case you didn't know.

Hey EC'er, what's the bottom of the ski look like where it broke?
You should go to Timberline or Marchitelli's and treat yourself to a nice big dinner, CB style.

Pristine, just like the sidewall and edges- no delams there. Just the broken core that pushed up the topsheet. Already talked to Stroup to see if they have a spare, but he's getting pretty good with their process and they generally don't see many blems or extras.

Top of Spellbound Bowl. You could spend an entire season picking off crazy lines in that zone of North Face, Spellbound, Phoenix, and Third Bowl.
I want to ski this place on a pow day. I bet it's absolutely unreal.

First off, I hope you can get an extra ski to make your pair whole.
Then, as soon as you get that second ski, I hope you sell the pair immediately and buy something that doesn't fall apart (like Rossi, Moment, or ON3P) like you see so many times with PM Gear skis. I think you'd really like the ON3P Cease and Desists or Caylors. I flexed them both yesterday (Jay had them) and they're right up your alley.
Let's talk later... I hope everything comes out as the best-case scenario for you.
