Well, my architecture bud and I decided to drive up to nc and hike mount mitchell since we actually have some downtime to get out of studio (and of course, with this economy, there are no jobs, much less internships, wamp wamp...).
Anyways, I actually really enjoyed the hike as all we have in atlanta is kennesaw mountain which to those who know...sucks for reasons mostly beyond its control. We left Atlanta around 5 on Wednesday afternoon and got to the Black Mountain campground about 10 pm which we were just gonna park at and sleep. But..the gates were closed so we just drove to Spruce Pine (???) and got some food for the next day and came back to the trail head and parked there and slept in the car. We woke up and sunrise and started out (wanted to beat the heat and inevitable afternoon showers). Made it to the top around 1030 or 11. Hung out there and watched the tourists take breaks while attempting the grueling ascent from the parking lot (>.

That's got to be a hell of a hike,how long did it take to get to the top?Funny you mentioned folks had to take breaks going from parking lot to top,wow maybe 80 ft climb in elevation.Anybody needing a break from that short walk is either real old or real out of shape!I know that campground is around 3,000 ft and the top is 6,684,that's a lot of climbing,I'm going to try that soon!

yeah, i'll go wherever haha...i have straight a's at this point and have won/placed in nearly every design competition but its still tough out there...everyone out of work is going back to grad school...so we'll see...gotta take that GRE too >.<
