Ski Southeast Messageboard

I hit the CO Trail yesterday morning with a few friends, with the intention of riding up from Copper to Kokomo Pass. Due to a million people being at Copper for various events, we ended up parking at the Conoco station on the far east side of town which added a few miles to the ride. All told, it was ~25 miles r/t, about 3,500' of climbing, topping out at 12,300 feet between Searle Pass and Kokomo Pass. Even on a Saturday, we didn't see more than 15 people all day long.

that's generally right, get a mile off the parking lot and the crowds approach zero asymptotically at any outdoor area, in my experience.



these summer pictures are killing me, thanks so much. i got in a 31 mile ride yesterday over probably about 50' elevation change. probably didn't help my ski conditioning at all. overall, i'm not really sure if i would rather go west in summer or winter, tough call sometimes.

Colorado in the summer is just as much fun as in the winter.



It might be wrong to say that on a ski website, but it's true.

Great stuff KD. I need to make a trip out west to MTB. Riding here is almost always in a canopy of trees. Keep the TRs coming.

I like the canopy of trees. Keeps the temps in the mid 90's.

Temps were between 55 and 70 the entire ride.

Haven't touched my mtb all summer. Your pics make me want to change that.

If I had terrain like that to bike I might hop off my road bike and get another mountain bike. Looks like a great summer out there, got to spend 1.5days in Denver this summer for business (loved it).



I have logged 1075 miles so far on my road bike this year, with my big event (220 miles in two days) coming up for my birthday in September.

It is still prettier out there in the winter. You get a rugged mountain and it just looks purtier dressed in white.



I got to experiance CO for the first time in the summer back in July. Will try to post some pics sometime.
