Due to Pink Jr having a school function at 6:45, we dropped her off and hit the road. There wasn't much traffic until we hit Beech Mt Pkwy. Then we passed 3 buses going the other way and I knew it was trouble. Parked close in the middle lot and were on the snow by 9:05. No line. The snow looked great (and it was). Star even had a little powder in it. The bumps had been groomed out but they left some on the right side of Lightning.

But by 10:00 it looked like this

We rode a few more times and they were working on opening lift #6 but still had not gotten it open so we went to OZ. Oz was in great shape but it was extremely windy. There had been a lot of poaching of the lift line, probably just to stay out of the wind. The lift line at the bottom was nonexistant but it was too brutal to keep riding there.

At 11:45 we called it a day. The runs were not crowded but the lift lines certainly were. Still, we got in 10-12 runs in the morning.

The ticket line

Sugar's lower parking lot at 12:30

We stopped at MickyD's in Tynecastle and were talking to a friend who was on his way to Sugar. The lady behind us in line said not to bother, Sugar had NO POWER!!! Not in the lodge, not on the lifts (although how could you tell). Transformer blew?

Yup that pretty much sums it up, I must add standing 30 min in the lift line with 2 boys annoying each other, knocking each other over, falling into the lines made me call it a day pretty early!! Plenty of time for the Ravens!

I got Kendog's old GoPro for Keith so he was playing around with it to day. Most are on Southern Star with a few in Powder Bowl.

He's learning how. That viewfinder is awfuly small for old eyes. LOL He's using a chest harness instead of a helmet mount too.

Great pics! Definitely makes me appreciate why I drive north to Massanutten instead of west to Beech. I skied at the top for two hours straight this morning . . . ski onto the chair every time. At 11:30, the lines on the other lifts were under 5 min. Also that short at 3:30.
2023-24: Wolf Creek in Dec, Massanutten in Jan, Feb; GT, Big Sky; Crested Butte; Alta/Snowbird in April.

I POSTED THIS IN THE WEBCAM THREAD:

I have a pass, so I braved it. There wasn't even a crowdless morning really... it was essentially busy from jump street, however...

Star was on point today. My favorite was the lower half to the left where there was still a little powder (though wetter and not as fluffy) and some very nice jumps where I was throwing 3's all day. Also very few people on Star.

The park jumps were lipped up very well and the surface was speedy enough for certain. Lack of wind in the park today was a great blessing... props to the park cats today!

Great bluebird day until you hit the lines ('pink's pics tell all)...
