In Colorado, the first weekend in October is typically the best time to view the changing aspen trees. Knowing that and the fact that I hadn't been back down to the Telluride area in over five years, I decided to go on a mini road trip, solo. Before sunrise on Saturday morning, I left home and drove to Ridgway, Colorado, home of the famous Dallas Divide and County Roads 5 & 7. The views from these roads are spectacular- unfortunately for me, the quality of pictures was degraded slightly due to some forest fires in Utah making it a little hazy. The second day took me over Owl Creek Pass, one of the most beautiful mountain roads I've ever driven on. The views are outstanding and the terrain is very peaceful. I discovered a small lake called Beaver Pond, which you'll see in several pictures here. Overall, I drove 800 miles in two days and came away with these great pictures of the Southern Colorado landscape. Enjoy the shots-

Dang Steve! Quit your day job. That first one is a book cover for sure

Yeah, the first shot is one of my all-time favorites, especially considering how much I loved that location. I'm pretty sure it'll be blown up to an extra large canvas print to hang somewhere in the house.

Steve you seriously make me sick with these photos...these are amazing, I personally can't wait for my calendar but also thinking of seriously getting some Mokan work to frame and hang up...amazing.

Beautiful! The first pic is my favorite! I don't know what you do for a day job, but you definitely could make a living with your photography.

Favorites are #1 and #3- those are keepers for the portfolio.

Two questions: did you take any that were purely reflection on water/trees, and what is the widest lens you've got?

EC- do you mean shots of only the water with the reflection of the trees and sky? No, I didn't get any like that because the pond was too wide and I couldn't get a good angle.

The widest lens I have is the Sigma 10-20 f/4. However, all the shots I posted here (and on my website from this trip) were with the Sigma 18-125 f/3.8. Which, by the way, I just had to send in for service. :(

Those are nice. One day I would like to own an expensive SLR camera.

I took some fall pictures. All were taken in summit. My truck gets 13 miles per gallon, don't go very far.

Owning an expensive DSLR is only half the equation- you have to have talent like KD, JBC, or Afro to get the kind of pictures you see on here. Hell, I've owned a DSLR for years and my stuff still stinks.

Looks nice out in Coloraddy right now.
