A few days ago I was in Breckenridge Colorado. Lucky for me there was a paycheck I was unaware of waiting for me at my employers office in Breck. The night before I browsed through my Summit Hiker guide book for a trail near Breckenridge. I found one in Blue River.

The Spruce Creek trail goes to Mohawk Lakes and a water fall I forgot the name of. There was snow on many parts of the trail.

The first 2 pug marks in the snow were huge and looked different from a dog print. There were no claw marks and the pads were wide and farther apart. I think they may of been from a mountain lion. The last pug mark is one left by my dog for comparison.

This lake is Mayflower Lake. There are many lakes in this area. Unfortunately I did not make it to the Mohawk Lakes. I was scared it was going to get dark and a lion might jump me in the evening hours.

There were cabin ruins all over the place. There are some remnants from a cabin in the right of this picture. I found an intact and nice cabin on the trail. It was clean. Hey! Some free lodging for ya'll.

This peak is Mt. Baldy. There's good hiking on this mountain. I have been to the peak. I almost went here over the Spruce Creek Trail. I would of had to use more of my gas, so I went with the shorter drive.

I forgot the name of this water fall. It is bigger than it looks. It goes up higher.

If any one goes to Summit County during the hiking season, there is a guide book written for the hikes in the area. It's called "The Summit Hiker" and they sell it in many shops. Summit County is more than a ski destination. The summers are cooler and mild. It's a nice break from the intense hot summers of the south. I look forward to winter, but have been enjoying the unseasonable warm fall.
