So my girl and i headed up to the cat this morning from her dads in hickory. The drive was great, smooth sailing all the way to great parking near the lodge. Fie Top was in good shape with a little dry snow near the top. Cat's road was snow covered but they did a good job keeping things moving with some pointed gravel application. The (expected) crowds were in force by 9ish, and we only/got in 6 runs in the 4 hours we were there. The double chair was patrol only til 9:30, then it was running to the mid unload, which didn't really alleviate the crowd but it was nice to see. We left at 12:30 because I had to make some moves for work in Hickory.

You're joking. Right. 20+ SkiNC/SE peeps in the middle of the road and you didn't stop by and say "HI".
Uber Epic Fail.
Wait for the SwampPhox TR.

I got about 2 laps in then headed to the parking lot for the tailgating festivities. Obviously, I wasn't there just to snowboard.

Lol, I didn't see anyone I recognized, nor did I ever see a group of 20 people standing in the parking lot. I don't get to spend many days on the slope with my girl either. But hell, next time I'm not in a rush for work we can do it up. Yesterday was a rare non drinking day for me

I heard and saw from a distance someone dropping the Cataloochee front side Rhododendron Chutes. A little early in the season to do this, but it was well done considering the snowpack.
